Abstract
A combination of acetaminophen (AAP) and ibuprofen (IBP) (Maxigesic¢ç IV, Kyungbo, Asan, Korea) is often given intravenously to treat pain after surgery. Here, we report the case of a 46-year-old woman who experienced an asthma exacerbation following the administration of AAP and IBP after functional endoscopic sinus surgery and nasal septum surgery. She has been diagnosed with and treated for asthma in the past, but she has not developed asthma in the last two years. Following the administration of AAP and IBP after the operation, the patient developed shortness of breath, wheezing, and tightness of chest She was treated with nebulized salbutamol and oxygen therapy, and her symptoms resolved gradually over a period of 20 minutes. This case highlights the importance of considering AAP-IBP combination as a potential trigger for asthma exacerbations in patients with a history of asthma, even if their asthma is well-controlled.
